First Torah Since the Holocaust
in an emotional ceremony a new Sefer Torah was completed and
dedicated in Grodno, the first time since the Holocaust.
It was an especially moving moment when the parade with the Sefer Torah arrived at the gate of the old Jewish Ghetto. The honor of carrying the Torah through the gate was given to Mr. Tsvi Chassid, a Jew born in Grodno, who lived in the Ghetto and miraculously survived the war. There were strong feelings of AM YISROEL CHAI, the eternality of the Jewish nation, and the renewal of Jewish life in Grodno.
